A credit card can be found on the Internet, at a store, or at the bank.  Whether you’re applying for a credit card at your local grocery store, for a student credit card, or for a credit card tied up with your bank, there are a few ways to apply for it.  Continue reading below to find out the steps you need to take.

How to Apply for a Credit Card:

At the store or bank:

  • If you’ve decided to apply at the store or at the bank you will take these steps.
  • First go to the place you’re looking to apply for their credit card.
  • Then ask a clerk if you can get a credit card application.
  • They will then give it to you.  Now, fill out all of the information they ask for.
  • Once your application is completely filled out with honest information hand it back to the clerk.
  • They will then be able to tell you whether or not you got accepted for their credit card.
  • If you got accepted, you will get a credit card in the mail with your name on it very shortly.
  • If you didn’t get accepted, ask them why.  It will most likely be because of your credit score.

Online:

  • If you’re looking to apply for a credit card online, simply type in the search engine which kind of credit card you’re looking for.  For example, “student credit cards”, “business credit cards”, “gas credit cards”, “low interest credit cards”.  There is a credit card out there for everything!
  • Once you’ve typed in the search engine what you’re looking for, there should be a list you can choose from.
  • Find one that looks like it relates to you the most.
  • Now go over all the information about the credit card.  Make sure you understand the credit limit, interest rate, fees, etc.
  • Now apply for the credit card.
  • You will then find out if you get accepted most likely by an e-mail.
  • If you got accepted wait for your card to come in the mail.

Applying for a credit card isn’t hard to do at all!  It takes just these simple steps so that you can open up credit, and start earning the rewards that you’ve been wanting to.

Are you interested in finding a credit card?  If so, you really want to make sure you look out for certain things.  When dealing with a credit card there are certain things we don’t want, and certain things we are looking for.  To make your credit card searching a little easier, make sure your card has the following before you apply!

What to Look for in a Credit Card:

Interest rate:  First of all, it is important to find a low interest rate credit card.  This means, if you don’t pay your bill in full that you won’t be charged an arm and a leg.  Some credit cards can reach anywhere from 80%!  If you’re not looking out for this, you won’t know the difference.  If you get a low rate credit card you will be charged less than most if you don’t pay your bill in full.

Fees:  Are there fees for the credit card you’re interested in?  A lot of credit cards don’t have that many fees, so why settle for one that does?  There can be anything from start up fees, annual fees, over the credit-limit fees, lay payment fees, and the list goes on.  Which ones does the one you’re looking at have?

Rewards:  Does this credit card give you any rewards?  For example, for every dollar you spend do you get a point to redeem gift cards, money towards your monthly bill, etc?  Or maybe you get a percentage back on every purchase you make, or get car rental insurance?  If there are rewards out there like this, why get a credit card that doesn’t offer any?

Credit limit:  What is the credit limit for your credit card?  If you’re not planning on racking up debt, this shouldn’t matter.  Although, it’s nice to have a good amount to be able to spend on big purchases all at once.

Liability:  If your credit card got lost or stolen what would happen?  Would you only have to pay the first $50?  Or do you have to pay for everything and have the companies say it was your fault?  What kind of coverage do you have?

Looking for a credit card should be something you really look into.  Credit cards offer a lot of convenience and rewards, so find one that treats you well, and has everything you need.
